Have you been denied for dental implants due to bone loss? Or told you need a bone graft for dental implants?

We can help, without a bone graft! Get your Zygomatic implant in Port St. Lucie in just one appointment even if other oral surgeons have said you do not have enough bone for a structured dental implant.

Even if other surgeons have told you that you lack enough bone for dental implants, we can help you. Our board-certified team of surgeons spent years developing a proven technique that requires no bone grafting. It’s this specialized approach that allows us to give you a new smile in just one day.

Great Smile Dental has board-certified dentists who utilize a specialized approach in placing elongated dental implants, called zygomatic dental implants, into the very strong cheek bone to anchor your new tooth or permanent teeth in a day. This process eliminates the need for a bone graft and allows us to provide you with a new smile in just one day!

Although only a small number of oral surgeons have experience with placing zygomatic implants, we employ one of the very best in the world. Meet Dr. Sheikh who is not only an oral surgeon but also has his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He completed his training as an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon in a six-year residency at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Dr. Sheikh then completed a fellowship in cleft and pediatric craniofacial surgery in Charleston, West Virginia. Listen to what he has to say about zygomatic dental implants in the video below.

Zygomatic Dental Implants: What to Expect

The zygomatic dental implant process will take place in just one appointment after beginning with treatment planning and the use of digital diagnostics to evaluate the structure and health of your smile. If it is determined that you are a candidate for zygomatic dental implants then we will schedule the first available appointment with our implant specialists who will install the implant in one sitting. No bone graft for dental implant is needed!

Zygomatic dental implants

Zygomatic dental implants are designed to closely mimic the structure of your natural teeth and consist of three main parts:

  • Implant post: made of surgical grade titanium, this zygomatic implant post is elongated to reach into healthy jaw bone tissue during a surgical procedure which is completed in the comfort of our dental office in Port St. Lucie. The post serves as a prosthetic tooth root and plays a key role in stabilizing the bone tissue and minimizing changes in the shape of your jaw.
  • Abutment: attached to the post, the abutment will secure the final restoration. There are other types of attachments for implant dentures, depending on the type of denture being used.
  • Restoration: a prosthetic tooth or dental crown is placed on the abutment.

Great Smile Dental has incorporated advanced digital technology for planning and placing zygomatic implants with a high degree of accuracy and the best possible patient experience. We use CBCT scanning in office for creating high resolution, 3-D imagery with detailed views of all aspects of your smile. These images are used to plan the strategic dental implant placement, especially when being placed to secure a bridge or denture.

The first step in the process is the surgical implantation of the elongated titanium post into the jaw bone. The location will have been mapped out using digital imagery. Sometimes the sinus cavity can be in the way of placing a dental implant, and a sinus lift, or a sinus augmentation is required before oral surgery. Once the zygomatic implant treatment has been completed, the post will need several months time to integrate with the bone tissue and completely heal.

The next step is to uncover the post and attach the abutment which will support the final restoration. This step may be different if a dental bridge or denture is being attached to the implant. Once the final restoration, denture or bridge is attached your new smile will be complete.

Your dentist will provide instructions for keeping your new implant or implant supported appliance clean and maintaining a healthy smile. Today’s patients enjoy a success rate of over 95% and your implants will last a lifetime with good oral hygiene and routine dental care.

Traditional Dental Implants vs Zygomatic Dental Implants

Implant dentistry has come a very long way in the past few years. Great Smile Dental, located in Port St Lucie, FL, is at the very top in advancements for dentistry. Zygomatic Implants and traditional dental implants can both give you an amazing smile in a short amount of time. It really depends on your specific condition on which is the right fit for you.

Often times a surgeon will place a traditional dental implant on the upper and lower jaw bone, but if there is insufficient bone to attach the dental implant, a zygomatic implant will have to be placed using the cheek bone. A zygomatic dental implant procedure is slightly different from dental implant surgery where as the cheek bone is used to mount a zygomatic implant, and the jawbone is used to mount a conventional dental implant.

No matter your condition, we have the tools and expertise to give you the best procedure for a beautiful healthy smile. One of our oral surgeons, such as Dr. Sheikh, will determine the best fit and walk you through the process during a consultation.
