Tooth Bonding

Tooth bonding can be the perfect solution for a wide range of dental health and cosmetic-related concerns. An economical, easy, and quick procedure, tooth bonding is completed during a single visit. Our team of experienced cosmetic and restorative dentists at Great Smile Dental can use skilled artistry to change the appearance of your smile or improve oral health with this procedure.

A less expensive alternative to porcelain veneers for cosmetic concerns, tooth bonding is also used to repair chipped or cracked teeth. It is often recommended for younger patients and adult patients with minor smile issues or for those not ready for the permanent commitment required for dental veneers.

Dental bonding is a common dentistry procedure that is minimally invasive and provides noticeable results. Learn more about tooth bonding services or call our office to schedule an appointment in Port St. Lucie!

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF DENTAL BONDING?

  • Chipped teeth, cracked teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Discolored teeth
  • Misshapen tooth
  • Worn teeth, often due to teeth grinding

Because dental bonding isn’t intensive, it’s a good option for people of all ages who have smile imperfections.

While other cosmetic dentistry treatments, such as veneers, are great if you want a permanent solution, some patients do not. It’s easy for a dentist to remove dental bonding if necessary.

Dental bonding is ideal if you have smaller issues with your teeth. While dental bonding can’t restore missing teeth or fix large cracks, it can repair small cracks, chips, and much more.

If you want to improve the look of your smile in just one appointment, reach out to Great Smile Dental today to learn more about dental bonding or to schedule a visit.

TOOTH BONDING PROCESS

The process is similar in many ways to a dental filling. Most patients are comfortable with a local anesthetic during this minimally invasive treatment. In many cases, anesthesia isn’t necessary as the tooth bonding material is only needed on the top surface of the tooth, which doesn’t have nerve endings.

We will begin by cleaning the area and tooth/teeth to be treated and planning the color and shape of the restoration for a natural-looking result. Your dentist will remove a very small amount of the tooth’s surface enamel to accommodate the composite material and allow a secure bond. The composite resin is placed on the tooth and sculpted into the desired shape.

We will check to see if your bite feels comfortable and that the new bonding material is not impacting any neighboring teeth before sealing the material. The surface of your newly bonded teeth will be polished and you will leave the office with a beautiful new smile.

Tooth bonding can last for 10 years or more with good oral hygiene and routine dental care where we can monitor for any signs of wear.

HOW TO HELP YOUR DENTAL BONDING LAST

Man with beard

Habits like biting nails or using teeth to open packages can damage the bonding material and your teeth. Be careful not to put too much pressure on your teeth.

If you’re prone to grinding your teeth in your sleep, a custom nightguard can protect the bonding material and the rest of your smile.

Smoking and other products that contain tobacco have many harmful impacts on your health and smile. They can also discolor the bonding material.

Sugar is delicious, but too much sugar can damage the bonding material. It’s also bad for your teeth as it can cause tooth decay and eventual cavities.

If you notice a sharp feeling on the bonding material, reach out to Great Smile Dental. We can adjust or replace your dental bonding so it’s comfortable.
